Andreas Kohler

Andreas holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine from the University of Graz, Austria. He joined the lab of Martin Ott at Stockholm University as a postdoc with an Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship. In 2023, he was recruited as an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biomedicine, Faculty of Medicine, Umeå University, Sweden. He is intrigued by the molecular principles of mitochondrial proteostasis, focusing on the protein quality control of mitochondrially-encoded proteins and loves to teach biochemistry and supervise his team during their exciting projects. When not thinking about mitochondria, Andreas is a passionate photographer, mainly doing wildlife and astrophotography.
