Farhan Mohamed Farah
BSc student
Farhan is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Biomedicine at Umeå University. He brings over two years of experience as a laboratory engineer at AstraZeneca. In the autumn of 2024, he joined our lab to undertake his BSc thesis project.
Farhan’s research focuses on studying the physiological effects of deleting various quality control systems for mitochondrially-encoded proteins. His primary method, flow cytometry, allows him to investigate how the removal of specific factors impacts mitochondrial transmembrane potential, reactive oxygen species levels, and cellular viability during ageing.
Outside the lab, Farhan enjoys working out and playing basketball.
