Jasmin Hertel

ERASMUS student

Jasmin is an ERASMUS exchange student pursuing a Master’s degree in Molecular Medicine at the University of Regensburg, Germany. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Medicine, focusing her thesis on the purification and functional analysis of the human RNA polymerase I transcription factor SL1. In the spring of 2025, she joined our lab to further develop her hands-on expertise in protein biochemistry.

Jasmin’s research explores the role of mitochondrial protein quality control factors in mitochondrial translation and respiratory chain complex assembly. Using advanced biochemical techniques, she investigates the kinetics and steady-state levels of respiratory chain complexes under basal and proteotoxic stress conditions, aiming to characterize the molecular function of novel protein quality control components.

Outside the lab, Jasmin is passionate about orienteering and enjoys theater, running, and hiking.
