Grant Writing in Progress

Science, like most things in life, isn’t free. We were fortunate to receive a generous start-up package from the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, but now, the task at hand is to secure additional funding through research grants for our first team members.

My office is fully set up and the grant-writing process is well underway. Despite the workload, I find it to be a highly creative process. It allows me to critically evaluate our plans and devise new strategies to unravel the intricacies of mitochondrial protein biosynthesis. Budget planning, a new aspect for me, has been an enlightening experience, made easier by the professional and supportive financial management team at our department.

I am optimistic that we will soon secure enough funding to welcome our first team members. So, keep an eye out for upcoming job opportunities in our lab!
